We’re committed to supporting the Global Goals to end extreme poverty in the next 15 years.

The Global Goals For Sustainable Development. Number 1, No Poverty. Number 2, Zero Hunger. Number 3, Good Health and well-being. Number 4, quality education. Number 5, Gender equality. Number 6, clean water and sanitation. Number 7, Affordable and clean energy. Number 8, decent work and economic growth. Number 9, Industry, innovation and infrastructure. Number 10, reduced inequalities. Number 11, sustainable cities and communities. Number 12, responsible consumption and production. Number 13, Climate action. Number 14, life below water. Number 15, life on land. Number 16, peace and justice. Number 17, partnerships for the goals.

At the United National General Assembly in 2015, 193 world leaders committed to 17 Global Goals to end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice and tackle climate change in the next 15 years. The Global Goals For Sustainable Development are designed to get these things done, in all countries, for all people. The 17 goals reflect the next chapter for global development. They replace the eight previous Millennium Development Goals and will set a framework for the world to unite around through 2030.

We can be the first generation to end extreme poverty, the most determined generation in history to end injustice and inequality and the last generation to be threatened by climate change.

Spread the word! If the goals are going to work, everyone needs to know about them. If the goals are famous, they won’t be forgotten. #GlobalGoals

TOMS gives through our global network of more than 100 Giving Partners. These nonprofit, humanitarian organizations have deep experience in the regions they serve and expertise in international development and most of the development goal areas. The Global Goals are seen as the “guiding principles” for the work that many of our Giving Partners are doing. TOMS will continue to support, track and ensure alignment of our collective efforts in as many ways as possible (Global Goal 17).

Here’s a snapshot of how the work our partners are doing supports the Global Goals:

Giving Partners give new TOMS shoes through their programs. All of TOMS Shoe Giving supports Global Goals 1 through 8, specifically 2/3 of programs directly deliver to the targets in Goals 2, 3, and 4.

  • Quality Education (Goal 4): 34% of programs where TOMS shoes are given help children receive access to quality education
  • Good Health (Goal 3): 24% of shoe giving supports programs that promote health and well-being
  • No Hunger (Goal 2): 9% of TOMS Giving Shoes are integrated into programs that provide safe and nutritious food

Good Health (Goal 3) is at the core of nearly 100% of the sight restorations that TOMS Giving Partners perform. The UN defines this as helping to increase health financing and the recruitment, development and training of retention of the health workforce.

Through our local manufacturing initiative, TOMS creates opportunities for full and productive employment by producing more than 1/3 of shoes we give in the regions where they are given. This work supports Goal 8, Good Jobs and Economic Growth.
