This past week, Blake Mycoskie had the opportunity to speak to an amazing group of 1,200 young millennial do-gooders at the One Young World conference in Johannesburg, South Africa. Other speakers included Lauren Bush, Arianna Huffington, Richard Branson, Geldof, and Kofi Anan.
Some of the sound bytes from Blake's presentation:
- "Business and philanthropy don’t have to be mutually exclusive."
- "The greatest feeling the world is when others share your story."
- “I learned how giving doesn’t just feel good, but it can also be good for business."

One Young World was founded in 2009 by David Jones and Kate Robertson. They are a London-based charity that "gathers together young people from around the world, helping them make lasting connections to create positive change."
Each year, at an annual Summit, the young "delegates," backed by the One Young World Counsellors, debate and formulate solutions for the pressing issues the world faces.
More about the session:
"After each Summit, the newly-minted One Young World Ambassadors work on their own initiatives or lend the power of the One Young World network to those already in existence. Previous initiatives have included the presentation of The Missing Millennium Development Goal to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and the creation of the first-ever African Student Leaders Summit.
There are currently more than 130 projects and initiatives involving in excess of 100 countries."
