With the launch of the TOMS Marketplace, we would like to take this opportunity to spotlight a few of our Marketplace Partners, their mission, and their products and how they are joining us to make the world a better place through social entrepreneurship. This post is guest authored by the 31 Bits team.
We're honored to be a part of the TOMS Marketplace. TOMS paved the way in changing the way people think about the products they buy. Your purchases can either have a positive or negative impact on the world, and 31 Bits is giving people a way to have a positive impact through the jewelry they purchase. The creators of our jewelry are paid fairly and given the education and resources needed to rise above poverty.
31 Bits jewelry is made from recycled paper; anything from unused posters, advertisements, and text book pages! When you run your fingers across a strand of beads, we hope you're transported to our Uganda headquarters, where you'll hear singing, laughing and storytelling. A community has been built around the making of these accessories!
Through 31 Bits, our beneficiaries are able to earn an income enabling them to provide for their families. We care for them holistically through counseling, health education, finance training, and business mentorships. After five years in our program, our beneficiaries are ready to graduate. A graduated beneficiary has her own business and is educated, healthy and confident. She is empowered.
From shoes to jewelry, The TOMS Marketplace has opened their doors for brands like ours, giving people a chance to make a difference through their purchases.
