A Giving Department? What’s that?

When we began in 2006, just two people managed TOMS Giving. But as our commitment to giving sustainably grew, so did the need for a larger team.

Since then we’ve hired a Chief Giving Officer and built a team of more than 20 individuals dedicated to every aspect of giving. We have people committed to strategic planning, logistical support, program development, communications, and impact measurement. And our team brings a world of know-how, with significant experience in public health, at NGOs and even field experience like the Peace Corps.

We’d like for you to meet two of these people:

Sebastian Fries is our Chief Giving Officer, who joined TOMS in 2011. Sebastian has helped execute all aspects of our Shoe, Sight and Water Giving strategies in over 70 countries around the world. He’s a TOM because he’s committed to constant evolution and improvement of our Giving models, allowing us to focus in on how to create sustainable jobs for the people in need that our Giving Partners help every day.

And Priya Bery is TOMS Chief of Staff. In Priya’s day-to-day, she works on special initiatives at TOMS in collaboration with Blake and the Giving Team. She helps incubate new ideas and innovate Giving strategies. Priya shares, “There’s nothing more inspiring than getting oil and water to mix. At TOMS, we do that every day. Our passion comes from merging the best of business and the social sector to make the unthinkable happen.”

Both agree that each day is completely different than the day before, and that’s the fun of it. That’s what makes them TOM.

TOM is not a single person, it is the idea that the decisions we make today can echo into the future. If you believe in finding adventure while building a better tomorrow, you’re TOM.
