TOMS Optical: Meet Dr. Veronica Ruelas

This past Spring we launched the TOMS Optical collection, featuring 21 new frames for prescription lenses to improve your vision and someone else’s. New York Eyewear Retailer, Artsee helped us celebrate our launch with an event at their funky eyewear boutique (which doubles as an art gallery) in the heart of NYC. Showcasing our take on timeless silhouettes that give back, the event was huge success for TOMS Eyewear. Take a look at some of our favorite photos: Recently, we spoke with Dr. Veronica Ruelas, (pictured above) the lead optometrist at the eye care practice located within Artsee, ThirdEyeChic Optometry. A…

Hey TOMS Europe, what are you reading?

The importance of being Earnest is one of my favourites because it is all about mistaken identities and it has some great one-liners. It was funny back when it was first written (over 100 years ago, circa 1895) and it is funny now. Alex As an American cyclist, moving to Amsterdam, the world’s cycling utopia, was a magical experience. When I got hired to work at TOMS EMEA, my sister handed me down the book In The City of Bikes: The Story of the Amsterdam Cyclist.  It gave me a lot to look forward to and background into the long…

What’s in Sevag’s bag?

We are nosy. We will just come out and admit it.  We wanna know what our co-workers did this weekend, what they are eating for lunch and most importantly whats in their bag (after all, they must be pretty weird if they work here!). Anyway, our Apparel/Accessories Designer & Developer, Sevag, is an avid traveler and generally cool dude so we had him give us a short rundown of what he’s packing for his upcoming trip home for Thanksgiving. 1. Ultra-light pack towel – I love packing light when traveling, I’ve brought this ultra-light towel up to few mountain peaks so have…

Together we balance

By: Natasha, who focuses on the TOMS brand experience at HQ in Los Angeles What makes working at TOMS most worthwhile are the people that keep the wheels turning.  You’ve read it before, but we mean it, the people I spend my days with (now my dear friends) at TOMS are some of the greatest people I’ve known, which makes my role as Brand Experience Coordinator one that motivates me every day! With the support of my team, I get to help cultivate, shape, preserve, and grow the TOMS culture, a culture that we are proud to be a part of. With the…

Business, Buddhism, and Breakfast Burritos

(via Wall Street Journal) In the Summer of 2011, TOMS expanded its one-for-one platform to include sunglasses. For each pair of shades purchased, TOMS will help restore the sight of a child through prescription glasses, medical care or surgery. Mr. Mycoskie is also taking his prescription for success to print with his new book, “Start Something That Matters” (Random House). We caught up with the 35-year-old by phone as he dashed between meetings in New York. I credit my grandmother for my sense of style. She was known for wearing bright, outgrageous things because it made people ahppy and she tought…
