Get To Know: Falling Whistles
Meet the Founder
HOW DO YOU APPROACH CREATING PEACE IN CONGO?
We believe the solutions to Congo’s problems come from those living within them. With the funds from more than 100,000 whistle sales, we’ve been able to invest in Congolese visionaries (living in the war zone) who are working to rebuild their communities.
DESCRIBE THE WORK THEY'RE DOING.
Our first partner, Christine, started CAMME, a facility to rehabilitate, educate, and feed children who have been made homeless by the war. Falling Whistles committed to getting CAMME $3000 a month and has since invested $100,869.14 into Christine’s efforts. Sekombi has built the fastest growing radio station and media enterprise in eastern Congo and is pioneering free speech. Blaise uses Congolese processing and agriculture to get low-cost malaria treatments to hundreds of thousands of people. And Dr. Jo built a hospital where he trains hundreds of Congolese doctors.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO YOU?
History tells us that all change is local and all local change begins with a whistleblower. One person, or small group, willing to say out loud what has been kept quiet, can create change.
