One Day Without Shoes Proclamation in MN!

"When I heard about the TOMS One Day Without Shoes Day, it brought me back to my recent mission trips to Nicaragua where I saw so many kids without shoes. I got to spend a lot of time with those amazing, bright little kids and I completely fell in love with them. They were so happy and loving, it just broke your heart of the poverty they had to live in where they couldn't even afford a pair of shoes. No child deserves to go without shoes. When I saw all the facts about the issues that can result from improper footwear that TOMS provided, it really motivated me to help. I really wanted to get the word out so others could become aware of this problem and help make a difference too, so I emailed the Minnesota legislators and our Governor. The Governors office wanted to help so I completed paperwork to apply for a proclamation. They quickly processed all the paperwork so it could get reviewed in time. Governor Mark Dayton approved the application and declared April 5th, 2011 "One Day Without Shoes Day" for Minnesota."
